BIO-HISTORY

In the 5th grade I started playing the drums and I acted in my fist play. During the subsequent fifteen years, I performed in a bunch of musicals, straight plays, talent shows, charity events and so on. I played with a many rock bands in many cities and I wrote a stack of music. When the occasion occurred to pursue a career in fields relative to both music and theatre, I jumped in.

I spent 8 years at the Lyceum Theatre Complex - run by the San Diego REP - where I started as an on call electrician and worked my way through the ranks for a couple years holding several over-hire and staff positions. As a Front Of House engineer, I set up and mixed sound for a wide span of performances and presentations ranging from rock and roll to corporate functions, festivals, orchestras, church services, variety shows, musicals, children's shows, concerts of many genres and origins...the list goes on. Eventually, I was promoted to Audio Master, then, Resident Sound Designer. Along the way I began designing and writing original music for plays all over town. By 2002 I had designed for over 70 productions all over southern California. I even appeared on stage a few times as an actor or musician. Then I took a job in the Midwest.

I'm in my fifth season as Resident Sound Designer at the Indiana Rep where I've been able to focus on different facets of my craft. In addition, it has been an opportunity for me to fine tune my skills with editing, recording and producing as well as non-linear multi tracking and digital surround formats.

I've composed music for eleven productions and designed fourteen world premiere projects. My music accompanied the European premiere of The Two Character Play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1998. I've worked on two productions of It Ain't Nothin' but the Blues, before and after it went on to Broadway and received four Tony nominations. I continue to write, record and produce music. I also dabble now as a playwright, and a fiction and nonfiction author.
